Why Winners Keep Winning
February, 3 2010
Cambridge University researchers have come up with a possible explanation for winning streaks. Examining the saliva testosterone of active stock traders, they found that testosterone levels increased on days the market was up. One subject increased his testosterone level by 74% after 6 consecutive ‘up’ days. The down side? On down or losing days, cortisol levels increased. So what’s this mean for you? Since testosterone plays a significant role in muscle building, having a winning attitude can keep you moving forward on goal fulfillment. On the other hand, cortisol is a catabolic hormone, so it might be a good idea to avoid the gym on your down days.
