Tips for Staying On A Diet

Tips for Staying On A Diet Now that we're a month into the New Year, many people are having a difficult time staying committed to their diets. You remember the diet I'm talking about, don’t you? This was the new diet that was going to help your achieve the goals you set for yourself on New Year’s Eve.

The key to being successful with any weight-loss or fat-loss program is consistency. It will probably take many months to achieve the condition you want, and the only way you’re going to get there is to be consistent with your diet and training. That means each and every day.

Here are a few tips that should help you to stay motivated through these cold winter months:

1. Don’t bring any junk food into the house. Staying on a diet is hard enough without the added temptation of chocolate chip cookies or ice cream calling your name from the kitchen. If you don’t bring that type of food into your house, you won’t be tempted to eat it. Throw out any junk food you currently have in the house and make it a goal not to buy any more in the future.

2. Write down everything you eat. When you make yourself accountable for everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) that you put in your mouth, you’ll be more honest about your diet. The best way to make yourself accountable is to write down the content of each meal. Count up how many calories as well as grams of protein, carbohydrates and fat. If you fall off the wagon and cheat, you have to write that down too.

3. Check the mirror. Make a point of gauging your progress in front of the mirror every day. Seeing unsightly bulges around your waistline will help keep you motivated and focused on your goal. Now get to the gym, and put down that sugary can of cola.
